  • Profile

    Ryusuke Koyama began pursuing photography in earnest in 2018. Drawing on folkloristic knowledge developed through his work as a commissioned Japan Heritage Producer for the Agency for Cultural Affairs, a deepened understanding of Japanese culture cultivated through the study of Noh theatre (Hōshō school), and sociological and economic perspectives gained from his business experience, he approaches photography with an intellectual and highly structured methodology.

    In parallel, he is engaged in new business development support based on art thinking, as well as research and education in business models.


    He is currently a Professor at Nagoya University of Commerce & Business, a Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Kyoto University of the Arts, and a member of the Oita Prefectural Council for Cultural Properties Protection. He holds a Ph.D. in Art.
